Psalm 40:1 “I waited patiently for the Lord, he turned to me and heard my cry.”

I am almost ashamed at how much time has passed since my last addition to At the Cross.  In fact, I started a great idea in December but before I could complete the article, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Suddenly, family and the holidays consumed my spare time.

In January, another thought process was left unfinished as my practice started to reap the fruits of its “labor”.  Trinity Ob/Gyn delivered over 30 babies in the first 40 days of 2019.  Focused Women’s Healthcare continues to benefit so many wonderful ladies and help them feel better in so many different ways.  My staff and I would like to thank each and every one of our patients for making our practice so successful in such a short time.  God continues to bless us and answer prayers – isn’t He amazing?

In the Psalm above, David goes on to say how our Lord lifted him out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire, and set his feet upon a rock, giving him a firm place to stand.  This Psalm was given to me in a pastor’s blog by my good friend Jim Collier, late in the year 2017.  Ironically, at about the same time, I was handed a new contract by my former employer that both my wife and I knew was un-signable.  Many agreed with me that it was a bad deal, but felt there was no choice but to sign.  Instead, my wife and I elected to place our faith in God and immersed ourselves in His Holy Word.  Over the next several months I read the 40th Psalm countless times.  I encourage you to read it now.  If you read and believe, it will make any task you are facing seem manageable.

Though it was tough going at first, we have received sign after sign affirming our decision to start my own practice.  One of these signs came in the form of two young nursing students that have been a blessing to my new office.  They presented my wife and I with a devotion book entitled New Morning Mercies.  Today’s devotion led off with this statement -“Today you will celebrate that grace has made you part of God’s great plan or you will mourn the places where you aren’t getting your own way.”  I for one can attest that life is better lived when you are following Christ’s plan.  Read Psalm 73:28  It rings true for me.
